About time... This, to me, is how it should work. Congrats to the members of CBP to did this!!! WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Yves St. Laurent and Tommy Hilfiger labels may be phony, but the thousands of Hurricane Katrina victims getting knockoff items seized by federal customs officials probably don't mind. Displaced survivors in the Houston Astrodome can choose from counterfeit and abandoned clothing, toys, and even dog food. More than 100,000 items were quickly taken from warehouses and more will follow, said Kristi Clemens, spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security's Customs and Border Protection division.

Get your Miranda Warning Strait.... Here you have a child killer who GETS OFF due to the bad Miranda warning he was read... go figure... The warning, which said suspects "have the right to talk with a lawyer and have a lawyer present before any questioning," failed to spell out that defendants also had the right to an attorney "during" police interrogation as well. It was corrected in November 2002.

Online in New Orleans I came across this on Wired.com... There is a web hosting and colocation company that is STILL online in NOLA. DirectNIC and their sister company Zipa (the co-location company) have been up and running without fail all durring the storm and its current state of crisis. With their ability to communitcate with those outside NOLA, they are quick to put to use. DirectNIC's "crisis manager," Michael "Interdictor" Barnett, updates his Live Journal continually with on-the-street reports.
